Parkway cross country, basketball to host fun run The Parkway High School cross-country and girls basketball teams are asking the community to help them go the distance in raising awareness for childhood cancer and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The “Going the Distance” 24-hour fun run will begin Friday, Sept. 3, at 7 p.m. during the Parkway football game against Captain Shreve. A selected group of individuals will begin the run and the track will be open to the public after the game until 7 p.m. on Saturday. A trial date has been set for an Elm Grove man accused of raping a three-year-old boy in December of 2008 Oct. 25, Darrell Lance Culverhouse, 46 of the 100 block of Houston St., in Elm Grove will begin his trial for aggravated rape of a three-year-old boy. King’s Korner gets its beer license approved |

BENTON — The Bossier Parish Police Jury granted a beer license for the King’s Korner convenience store at 756 Highway 80 in Haughton less two months after revoking it. Although the former manager of King’s Korner, Assif Ayub, 29 of 1100 BLVD, Shreveport, awaits trial for charges s of money laundering, possession of drug paraphernalia, unlawful possession of hallucinogenic plants (Salvia), racketeering and two counts of illegal use of a counterfeit trademark, the jury approved a beer license for the store’s new manager Habib Ayub — believed to be the uncle of Assif Ayub by the Bossier Sheriff’s Office [BSO]. Bossier City offices to close for Labor Day |
