BENTON — Bossier Parish Judge Ford Stinson Jr. accepted a motion to continue Eric L. Jones’ second-degree murder trial until Oct. 11. Jones, black male, 26 of 9500 Highway 157 in Haughton began his first day of trial murder trial Monday, however, Defense Attorney Eric Johnson asked for the continuance in order to hire an investigator to aid in Jones’ defense. The Ark-La-Tex Gun Collectors Association’s bi-annual Gun and Knife Show begins this weekend at the Bossier Civic Center allowing weapons enthusiasts to buy, sell and trade arms for charity. “The funds we collect from one weekend’s show we use to put on the next show. First Baptist of Bossier involved with agency Feed The Children will bring a semi tractor-trailer full of food and essentials to Shreveport on Friday, August 27. The boxes will be distributed to families at 4 p.m. at Apostle Deliverance Outreach Center (2998 Martin Luther Drive). The distribution is the latest stop on Feed The Children’s Americans Feeding Americans Caravan, which has helped more than 130,000 families across the country in cities that have been affected by the nation’s economic downturn. Former Louisiana Congressman Jim McCrery gave The Arc of Caddo-Bossier a gift of $27,500 in August of 2009 to establish a scholarship fund for the Goldman School and Child Development Center.
