Gas explosion injures worker PDF Print E-mail

A DCP (Duke Energy) natural gas compressor station near Shongaloo exploded early today leaving an employee critically injured.

The explosion reportedly took place at roughly 4 a.m. Heath Warford, a DCP employee conducting a site inspection, was transported to Springhill where he was then airlifted and taken to a Shreveport area hospital for treatment of critical burn-related injuries.

Primary vote set Saturday PDF Print E-mail

It’s an open and closed case of politics for Louisiana voters Saturday. Polls will open at 6 a.m. as voters make their choices in closed primaries for the U.S. Senate and Congress.

According to Registrar of Voters Melanie Smith, more than 250 persons have already cast their ballot during early voting in Webster Parish.

Webster, like other parishes, is working to force the state to return a larger share of its revenues from minerals harvested from the ground, as oil and gas companies continue to explore the Haynesville Shale in northwest Louisiana,

On the November 2 statewide ballot, voters will be faced with Amendment No. 2, also referred to as Act 541, which addresses Louisiana Natural Resource Severance Taxes.

‘Colonel’ cracks 20-year barrier PDF Print E-mail

Leon Williams, Jr. of Minden, who was convicted June 17 of distributing crack cocaine, has been sentenced to 20 years at hard labor in the Louisiana Department of Corrections.

District Court Judge Jeff Cox handed down the sentence Monday following a pre-sentence investigation.

Doyline man sees multiple charges PDF Print E-mail

A Doyline man has been arrested by Webster Parish deputies for fighting and child endangerment.

Charles W. G. Anderson, III, 28, of Doyline was recently arrested for disturbing the peace (fighting), five counts of aggrevated assault with firearm and three counts of child endangerment following the disturbance of two brothers.
