This week, a really good fA few weeks ago I received a phone call at home that began with, “Attention Visa and Mastercard holders. Your interest rates are scheduled to go up, yet you can reduce those rates by pressing 6 and speaking to one of our associates.”

First off, I don’t have any interest charges; secondly and more importantly, my phone number is on the “do not call” list. Well, you know me. I figured I would tell this turkey just which limb he could take a flyin’ leap from, so I punched 6. It rang a couple of times and a female came on and asked, “are you wanting to speak to someone who can help lower your interest rates?”

This week, a really good friend of mine became a grandmother.  Now, it was only a few weeks ago when she was sayin’ that she wasn’t quite sure she was ready to be a grandma. But when I talked to her right after the blessed event, it was obvious by the tone of her voice that she was ready. In fact, she came across to me as being so happy she sounded “bubbly”! And that’s a good thing, folks.

Now, I’ve been a Papaw for close to ten years, and can honestly say I’ve got the best granddaughter and best grandson a man could possibly want. Of course, that’s what most of us granddads say ‘cause that’s what we believe. If you are a grandparent, you, most likely, agree with me.

The marquis is aglow with multicolored lights, heralding the opening of the long awaited and soon to be immensely successful premier movie. People of all ages and classes are standing along the boulevard, hoping to catch a glimpse of the starring actor when he arrives.

Suddenly, the headlights of an automobile appear down the street and the excitement increases to a fever pitch.

Hey, folks, I need a little help here. Okay, okay. Some of you are sayin’ I need a lotta help, and I ain’t gonna argue the point. But for right now, let’s overlook the obvious and put the attention on the followin’.

As you know, I’ve always admitted that I’m not the sharpest tack in the drawer, and while age usually makes one wiser…, well, growin’ older ain’t made this bud wiser! Incidentally, do you know how to make Budweiser? You send him to college!
