Christian writer and teacher David C. McCasland tells about the tour bus that stopped in front of a particular artist’s house. McCasland says he watched as people wandered around, pointing at the towering steel sculptures glinting in the sun. He says this happens almost every day, not too far from where he lives. And, McCasland says, every time he sees these tourists, he thinks about how much more they would appreciate the works of art if they knew the artist. Be first to comment this article | Views: 358 |

There are many injustices in life. Unscrupulous, godless people are often the ones who prosper the most. But, God has a word about that: You reap what you sow. “His mischief shall return upon his own head, and his violent dealings shall come down on his own pate” (Psalm 7:16). God says many other things in the 7th psalm, including instruction on how we should behave when we come face to face with wicked men and women. This passage also teaches us about the principles and forces of unrighteousness. Be first to comment this article | Views: 374 |

The 6th psalm is commonly known as the first of the Penitential Psalms. There is much grief to be found in these ten verses. The title of this psalm ascribes it to King David and the grief he expresses in these verses can be attributed to his acute consciousness of sin. The first thing we notice in this passage is David’s prayer. What does he say at the beginning of his petition? “O Lord, rebuke me not in thine anger…” (Psalm 6:1b). I read the other day about a tombstone marking the grave of a lady in Michigan who died at the age of 57. On that tombstone were these words: SHE NEVER LOST HER SENSE OF WONDER, APPROACHING EACH DAY AS A SURPRISE PACKAGE TO BE OPENED WITH ENCHANTMENT. There is no doubt that life, for even the most dedicated of God’s people, may be an ordeal of drudgery and difficulty. Circumstances may be hard and burdens may be heavy, but we can take comfort in knowing God wants us to bring our cares to Him and it might be best to bring our cares to Him as we start each day. It would be wise to view each day as a gift to be opened with prayer. Be first to comment this article | Views: 345 |

During World War II, an elderly woman in England had endured the nerve-shattering bombings with incredible calm. When asked to give the secret of her amazing serenity in the midst of all the terror and danger, she said, "Well, every night I say my prayers. And then I remember that God is always watching, so I go peacefully to sleep. After all, there is no need for both of us to stay awake!" There is a saying that goes like this: The rest of your life depends on the rest of your nights. But many of us are like the little boy who was having trouble falling asleep. He told his mother, "My body is lying down, but my mind keeps sitting up." Be first to comment this article | Views: 370 |
