Several things have taken place this year that have contributed to my sadness.  First the death of a friend of long ago, in fact an old friend. 

It seems that things bring a long lasting sadness since I am so old. Normally I could, in days long ago, find something to look forward to and in a fashion get my mind off the sadness, but not now.

Marjorie Holmes has written a book entitled “You and I and Yesterday.” And that is what my Cameos have been about for these past ten years. My memories of yesterday, are yours similar?  

Girls carried their jacks and the little ball with them to school. At recess we clustered around an area and each girl took her turn bouncing the little ball and picking up the jacks. It was quite a lot of fun for the girls.

Cats - you either love them or you hate them, there is no middle ground. I would say that I have owned many cats in my lifetime, but that is just the reversal of the truth. The cats have owned me.

Those of you who have never lived in a home with a cat cannot know the different personalities that different cats possess. For the most part, they are arrogant creatures, fastidious in their grooming of themselves, opinionated, and very selective in offering their devotion.

In years gone by, before we had I-20. we had high water problems on Highway 80 between Minden and Dixie Inn.  In May and June of 1958, my husband and I took a lot of kidding about my husband delivering the baby that was due the end of June because of high water.  Time passed and the water receded and the long-awaited son came early on June 3, and we made it to the Schumpert.
