Wednesday, 06 May 2009

Benton High students Darrian Carr, Kelsey Moore, Nick Chaisson, Jonathon Fussell, Jennifer Belmonte, Melissa Spilker, Jamie Duncan, Thomas Teakell and Matthew Butts competed in the State Literary Rally at LSU in Baton Rouge.  Each student had to compete in a different subject. In order to qualify for the state rally, these students had competed and placed in an earlier district rally.  Melissa Spilker placed 2nd in the State Rally in Division II for Human Development and Family Relationships.  In addition to the hard work at the competition, students had a great time at the mall, swimming at the hotel and dancing on campus (after the testing) to music provided by a D.J. in front of the LSU Student Union. The BHS Literary Rally competition is sponsored by teacher Marlene Aversa.
