Let’s think, for a minute, about those two powerful words. 1 John 3:22 says, “And whatsoever we ask, we receive of Him.” Isn’t this a wonderful promise? Whatever we ask “we receive of Him because we keep His commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in His sight.” Verse 23 says, “And this is His commandment, that we should believe on the name of His Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as He gave us commandment.” Two things, walk in faith and walk in love. There were four boys in our family, sprinkled among three girls. We were strong on both ends of the Crider line of magic. Having lived on a farm all my life (until college), my early memories all revolve around that setting. It seemed every day was Mother's Day. She got up before daylight and make a fire in the wood burning stove (after the fire in the fireplace was going). While my daddy was outside "doing chores", she proceeded to get breakfast started --mixing up those big biscuits, frying ham or sausage, setting the syrup and butter out on the table, and getting the milk ready for the family. Just the older ones, and my daddy, were mature enough to drink coffee, so we stuck to milk. When you think of Little House on the Prairie, you get a feel of how life was for poor dirt farmers. |
