Not quite three weeks into this Legislative session, lawmakers have been faced with several bills and budgets. With the State staring at yet another revenue shortfall, a lot of focus has been placed on monetary issues. As budgets tighten throughout our state, we must be diligent in our protection of certain mechanisms of accountability. One such mechanism is the publication of minutes and other public notices of municipalities, boards and districts in official journal newspapers. Be first to comment this article | Views: 692 |

After listening to various news outlets talk about the fringe elements, small group of radicals, those people that by no means represent the ideas of, nor are there action condoned by the Republican Party, The Birthers, nor The Tea Party. I was taken back. Back to the not so distance time in American history when White Communities engaged in "Black Barbecues." A community event which featured the lynching of black people. Finally, the Tea Party movement might be in line for some credibility. For months, many politicians and media outlets have voiced more in the way of ridicule than respect for this movement, often describing it as a fringe group. As a result of a couple of recent polls, however, the tables may have turned for the growing number of Tea Party adherents. Comments (7) | Views: 989 |

Crime in America has a devastating impact on victims and survivors, neighborhoods, and our society as a whole. Crime in America continually threatens our individual and collective sense of safety and security. And crime in America creates a universal sense of indignity through the realization that any of us can be victimized by violence. Later this month (April 18-24) special tribute will be paid to crime victims during National Crime Victims' Rights Week. Be first to comment this article | Views: 811 |
