Members of the Kairos Prison Ministry are excepting homemade cookies to be delivered to inmates at the Wade Correctional Center.

The Wade Correctional Center Team will take more than 2,000 dozen homemade cookies for distribution,

Mt. Olive holds 28th annual rodeo PDF Print E-mail

The 28th Annual Mt. Olive Christian School Rodeo was held July 22-24 in Athens.

This year, Bull Riding was added to the event and was held on Thursday Night. Twenty-eight bull riders came to try to win some of the more than $4,000 in prize money. The bulls were gathered from some of the top producers in the area.

The newest exhibit at the Bossier Parish Library Historical Center is about the patent medicine industry.  Stop in to learn about the questionable ingredients and advertising tricks used by patent medicine manufacturers.  All of the advertisements on display were taken from The Bossier Banner.   Also on display are antique medicine bottles.

In its February 26, 1974 issue, The Shreveport Journal paid tribute to Bossier Parish in a “Salute to Bossier Day.”  The day had been set aside as Bossier’s day to shine, with all sorts of nice things happening in Bossier City and in the parish, as the paper noted below:

Many business houses and public facilities will hold open houses during the day.  Merchants will offer special discounts in honor of the occasion and there will be a street dance.  If the weather permits there will be a special skydiving exhibit.

Eugene and Audrey LaBorde of Bossier City are celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary.  The couple was married in Marksville, Louisiana on September 3, 1950.  The couple then moved to Bossier City where they have resided for the past sixty years. Eugene LaBorde worked as a cabinet maker and owned LaBordes’ Custom Cabinets.
