A Ringgold woman was arrested Thursday after she attempted to purchase prescription drugs without a legitimate prescription.

Felicia Terrell, 30, of the 2000 block of Military Road, was arrested and charged with obtaining a controlled dangerous substance (CDS) schedule III (Lortab) by fraud and possession of a legend drug by fraud (Somas).

Minden Police Chief T.C. Bloxom said Terrell was arrested last Tuesday when she visited a local pharmacy and attempted to purchase two prescriptions — one for Lortab and  the other for Somas.

Bloxom said Terrell called the pharmacy and, after identifying herself as an employee at a doctor’s office, turned in the prescriptions.

The pharmacy, suspicious of the prescription, contacted the doctor’s office indicated by Terrell. The physician confirmed that the prescription was fraudulent.

“Terrell has been arrested three times this year for obtaining or possessing a prohibited substance,” said Bloxom. “She was also on probation at the time of her arrest and a probation and parole hold has been placed.”

In an unrelated incident, an investigation into a possible residential break-in resulted in multiple charges against a Minden man.

Carl Rugley, Jr. 21, of the 300 block of Plateau Street, was arrested Thursday and charged with attempted unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling and possession of a legend drug with intent to distribute.

Bloxom said Rugley was observed trying to enter a residence on East Street through a window. Authorities went to Rugley’s residence Thursday to place him under arrest, at which time Rugley was allowed to get his coat. A search of the coat pockets revealed a pill bottle containing 150 Seroquel tablets.

Seroquel is a mood-stabilizing medication approved by the FDA to treat symptoms of schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.

Rugley allegedly told authorities that the prescription belonged to his recently deceased grandmother. He said he had scratched the label off of the prescription bottle and had been taking the medication himself.
