Bossier City Police Chief Mike Halphen announced the capture of a fugitive who escaped last week from a northeast Louisiana prison. The arrest was the result of a cooperative effort between Bossier City police and the United States Marshals Service.
Tuesday, the U.S. Marshals Service Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team and Bossier City police received information that Jermence L. Rogers, 28, of Minden was at a residence in the 1400 block of Beverly Street. Rogers was wanted for escaping from the Ouachita Parish Correctional Facility on November 23 where he was serving a sentence for a drug conviction. Strike Team members, which includes officers with the BCPD Street Crimes Interdiction Unit, along with Bossier City police patrol officers converged on the house at approximately 12:30 p.m. and asked Rogers several times to come out. After Rogers refused to respond, officers obtained a search warrant to enter the home and called members of the Bossier City Police SWAT team to assist.
Rogers eventually walked out the house and surrendered without incident upon speaking with his mother over a cell phone. He was taken into custody and booked into the Bossier City Jail as a fugitive.
The U.S. Marshal’s Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team consists of U.S. Marshals and members of local, parish and state law enforcement agencies who are granted multi-jurisdictional authority to located and arrest fugitives. Views: 1914
