Goodwill helps with finding employment PDF Print E-mail

As the economic crisis continues, Goodwill Industries of North Louisiana remains committed to helping people gain employment.

As North America's leading nonprofit provider of employment training and job placement services, Goodwill® takes a comprehensive approach to help people find and keep good jobs.

"Goodwill placed 569 people in community jobs in 2008, in addition to helping the hundreds of people with disabilities and disadvantages that earn dignity and a paycheck working in our retail and contract operations", says
John M. Rankin, president and CEO of Goodwill Industries of North Louisiana.

"And during these tough economic times, Goodwill is expanding services with a new store, donation center and job center in North Bossier."

In North Louisiana, Goodwill helps people with disabilities, those who lack education or work experience and other job seekers earn paychecks to support themselves and their families. Goodwill workforce development experts customize a plan for each individual, based on his or her skills and interest. They provide people with the necessary job training and support so they can be successful in their careers. Goodwill helps people find jobs in a variety of fields including health care, banking, and janitorial services.

"When people donate and shop at Goodwill, they make an economic investment in their communities," says Jessie Schmidt. "Eighty-nine percent of revenues fund programs to help workers become productive, taxpaying citizens."

Goodwill Industries is ready to support the area's unemployed and continue its 83-year tradition of helping people who are having a hard time finding meaningful work. The new Goodwill Bossier Campus Job Center offers Job
Classes on the first and third Tuesday of every month that covers resumes, cover letters, applications, and interviews.

Follow-up appointments are then scheduled for Wednesdays and Thursdays for additional one-on-one guidance and job referrals.  Employment services for people with documented disabilities are available Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Friday from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
