Before Saturday night, the Gametime Rockies had allowed a total of seven runs in eight games.

The Royals had scored three runs against them twice, the Red Sox scored one run and the other five wins in an 8-0 start were shutouts. But their winning streak came to a screeching halt Saturday night with a 20-15 loss to the Gametime Yankees.

Chase Willard, Kory Kottenbrook, Justin Juneau, Andrew Brouillette, Chase Lyles, Tyler Taunton, Cody Causey and Jordan Marks took turns pitching for the Rockies, allowing 12 hits and 18 walks.

The Rockies had 13 hits, but couldn’t overcome the Yankees’ nine-run first inning.

Tanner Bailey was three-for-four and Causey, Juneau and Lyles had two hits apiece.

Winning pitcher was Luke Briley. The loss went to Willard.

The Rockies started the second round of Louisiana Collegiate League play at Airline Friday night with a 2-1 victory over the Red Sox, a team the Rockies beat 7-0 in their season opener.

In Friday’s game, the Rockies needed a ninth inning run to break a 1-1 deadlock.

It was the first time the Rockies have been held to less than seven runs this season, and the first time their winning margin was less than seven runs. The winning pitcher was Turner Brasher, the second of three Rockies pitchers.

Justin Ennis was the starting pitcher, allowing one run, two hits and two walks in four innings, with three strikeouts.
Brasher also pitched four innings, allowing no runs, two hits and three walks. He struck out five batters.

Chris Cotton got his first save of the LCL season. He allowed one hit, but struck out the other three batters he faced in the ninth inning.

Gip Hendrix pitched eight innings for the Red Sox, allowing one run, two hits and six walks. He struck out 11 batters. The loss went to Brett King, who pitched the ninth inning and gave up the winning run although the Rockies didn’t get the ball out of the infield.

Lyles drew a one-out walk to start the Rockies’ game-winning rally. He reached second base on a passed ball, went to third on Alex Garcia’s grounder to second base and scored on Tanner Bailey’s rocket shot to first base for an infield single.

That was the Rockies’ third hit of the game. Cody Moellenkamp and Garrett Vaughan had the other two.

Saturday, the Rockies had another close game, extending  their winning streak to eight games with a come-from-behind 6-3 victory over the Royals as Alex Garcia got the decision.

Starting pitcher Jamie Bradshaw allowed three runs, one hit and five walks in 4-2/3 innings. He struck out four batters. Cotton retired one batter and allowed one hit. Garcia allowed two hits and no walks in the last two innings.
Marks was three-for-four with a double at the plate while Lyles, Bailey, Tyler Taunton, Andrew Brouillette and Cody Causey had one hit apiece. Causey and Taunton each drove in two runs. Brouillette and Bailey each drove in one run.
