Written by Press-Herald Staff
Thursday, 18 June 2009

Funeral services will be held for Sallie Mae Herrington Holland Friday, June 19, 2009, at 10 a.m. at Calvary Missionary Baptist Church located at 1400 Homer Road in Minden. Officiating will be Brother Jim Crain and Brother Don McCormick.

The family will receive friends at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden, today, June 18, from 5 until 8 p.m.

Mrs. Holland walked triumphantly through the gates of heaven the morning of June 17, 2009, after battling a lengthy illness. She was born Nov. 14, 1928, in Fryeburg, to William Warren “Pat” and Susianna Jane Culverhouse Herrington.

She married the love of her life, Robert Clinton Holland on June 22, 1947, who preceded her in death and who was waiting at the gates for her arrival. She worked as a nurse for Dr. Deloach and later at the VA Hospital and Town and Country nursing home. After she retired she spent her remaining years being our beloved Momma and Mamaw.

Also preceding her in death were her parents; her brothers, Stanley, Jerry, and Bob Herrington; her sisters, Malissie Sue Boyce and Nellie Haynie; her son Tommy; her son-in-law Buddy Smith, as well as many friends and family.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory two sons, Billy Holland and wife Donna of Sibley and David Holland and wife Paula of Minden; three daughters, Wanda Smith of Bossier City, Carolyn Walraven and husband Ronny of Dubberly, and Brenda Barbo and husband Melvin of Sibley; her sister Emma Miller and husband J.P. of Minden; sister-in-law, Kathleen Heflin of Sibley; her brother-in-law Talton Hinton of Minden; 13 grandchildren; and 21 great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Robbie Smith, Michael Taylor, Barry Holland, Jeff Lair, Rickey Miller and Jimmy Morgan.
Honorary pallbearers will be Shayne Smith, Clint Holland, Charlie Kerouac, Tommy Clarkson, Jason Holland, Allen Holland, and Brock Walraven.

Special thanks to National Homecare Services and St. Joseph Hospice for their love and care of our mother and grandmother.
