Funeral Services for Thomas Ballance will be held Wednesday, June 24, 2009, at 3 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home Chapel in Minden. Officiating will be the Rev. Mike Richardson and the Rev. Charles Woolley.Interment will follow at Gardens of Memory in Minden.

Family will receive friends from 5 until 9 p.m. Tuesday, June 23, 2009, at Rose-Neath.

Mr. Ballance was born Aug. 1, 1926, in Arcadia, and entered into rest June 21, 2009, in Bossier City.

He was a World War II Army veteran and served in the South Pacific. He retired from International Paper Company Container Division Springhill in 1988, after 38 years of service. Thomas was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He loved the Lord and enjoyed fellowship with his church family at New Sarepta Baptist Church. He loved hunting and fishing and that love extended to his wildlife carvings and paintings in later years. Also he was an avid LSU fan. Geaux Tigers!

An infant son; his parents; one brother; and six sisters preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Cloyce Ballance of Sarepta; daughter, Barbara “Babs” Slack and husband Steve of Sarepta; brothers-in-law, Roy E. Sheltman of St. George, Utah, Stanley R. Locke of Elm Grove and Ronald G. McGinty of Benton; grandchildren, Jessica Claire Caraway and husband Casey of Springhill, Stephen Russell Slack and wife Candace of Midland, Texas; many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Pallbearers will be nephews, Alan Locke, Greg Locke, Shayne McGinty, Jason McGinty, Tim Everett and Blake Canterbury.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jeffrey Canterbury and Joey Canterbury.

Our family would like to extend our appreciation to Dr. David Law and the staff of Springhill Medical Center for their care throughout recent years. A special thanks to our friend, Dr. Patrick Deere and the wonderful staff of Promise Hospital Bossier for the loving care and genuine concern shown not only to our loved one but to our entire family.
