Two south Louisiana were arrested yesterday on drug charges after being pulled over for an expired license plate.
Toby James Richard, 32, of Cameron, and Donald Dave Guidry, 34, of Lafayette, were driving eastbound on Highway 80 when deputies noticed they had an expired license plate tag from 2007. Deputies pulled them over, and the driver, Richard, had a suspended driver’s license as well as an expired motor vehicle inspection sticker.

Upon searching the vehicle, deputies found loose marijuana in a void in the dash and a marijuana roach in a bag of Red Man chewing tobacco.

The two men were arrested and transported to the Bossier Maximum Security Facility and booked. Guidry is charged with possession of marijuana – first offense and possession of drug paraphernalia. His bond is set at $1,000. Richard is charged with possession of marijuana – second offense, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving under suspension, switched plates, failure to register vehicle, and expired motor vehicle inspection. His bond is pending.

Drug charges

Two Plain Dealing men were arrested Wednesday night for possession of marijuana, illegal possession of a firearm with drugs, use of a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of a juvenile and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Robert Owen Townsend, 25, and Timothy Mark Townsend, 27, both of Hartsell Circle, were taken into custody after Bossier Sheriff’s narcotics agents went to the Townsends’ residence in reference to possible drug activity.  They invited the agents in and gave them permission to search the residence.

During the search, the agents recovered five marijuana smoking devices containing burnt marijuana residue, seven firearms, loose marijuana, numerous baggies containing marijuana residue, digital scales and assorted paraphernalia.  In addition, there were two juveniles in the residence, ages 11 and seven.

The Townsends were transported to the Bossier Maximum Security Facility and booked. Their bonds are pending.
