Funeral services for Mr. Henry David “H.D.” Gray, 82, will be held Wednesday, July 29, 2009, at 11a.m. at Springhill United Methodist Church with the Rev. Walter Parker officiating.  Interment will follow in Springhill Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Mortuary, Springhill.

Visitation will be held today, July 28 from 5 until 7 p.m.

Mr. Gray was born Jan. 13, 1927, in Fordyce, Ark. to Luther Erna and Flora Brandon Gray and passed away Monday, July 27, 2009, in Bossier City,.  

He was a former member of the Springhill United Methodist Church and a current member of First United Methodist Church, Shreveport. He was the President of Boucher & Slack Insurance Company, had served on the Board of Directors of Springhill Bank and Trust for many years, was a U.S. Army World War II veteran and was a former member of the Springhill City Council.  Mr. Gray had served as a member and past president of many Civic Organizations.  He enjoyed hunting and was a member of the Shreveport Country Club, where he loved to golf.  Mr. Gray was a loving husband, father and grandfather.  

He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 60 years, Rosemary McKellar Gray; sons, David Gray and wife, Mary Jo of Bossier City, Allen Gray and wife, Sherry of Springhill; grandchildren, Misty Erin Gray, D.V.M. of Old Wick, N.J., Summer Leigh Crenshaw of Baton Rouge, Clifton Garrett Gray of Bossier City, Cole Manning Gray of Joaquin, Texas and Jason Berry of Shongaloo; one great-grandson, Keaton Berry; sister, Erna Jean Coats and husband, Leroy of Springhill; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Don Kottenbrook, Ricky Pace, Ricky Wayne Kottenbrook, Randy Soileau, Rick Young and Jeff Craig.  Honorary pallbearers will be Ronnie McWilliams, Clary Anthony, Doyle Ray Pickett, David Curry, Johnny Herrington, Son Harrison, Roy Fish, L.M. “Cotton” Cadenhead, W.L. Hanson and T.H. “Speedy” Bradley, Jr.
If a man’s wealth could be judged by the number of his friends, H.D. was indeed a wealthy man.
