North Louisiana residents looking to improve their lives through work can receive free job training and placement services through Goodwill Industries® .

The Outreach Placement Program of Goodwill® Employment Solutions (GES), the Employment and Training Division of Goodwill Industries® of North Louisiana, is supported in part through the United Way of Northwest Louisiana.  Through local workshops, Goodwill® provides basic training and job placement services for people looking for a fresh start right in their own back yard.  In 2008, Goodwill Industries® of North Louisiana helped 569 people find jobs in North Louisiana communities.

This innovative Goodwill® workshop is designed to increase job readiness skills and help people become independent and active citizens through employment.  Training includes:  Job search tips, résumé writing, communication skills, proper interview skills and attire/appearance, conflict resolution, time management, negotiation skills, and more.  There will also be computer access for basic assistance with on-line applications.  All participants will also be provided with individualized placement assistance and interview referrals to help them find appropriate employment throughout the community.

Classes are held every first and third Tuesday of each month at the Bossier Job Center located at 4000 Airline Drive in Bossier City, LA from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.  The Shreveport Job Center, located at 800 W. 70th Street, hosts workshops on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.  Workshops at both locations are FREE and open to anyone living in Bienville, Bossier, Claiborne, Caddo, DeSoto, Natchitoches, Red River, Sabine, Webster, and Winn parishes.

Seating is limited to 20 individuals. Remember, these workshops and placement services are free and open to the public.  To register or for more information on workshop topics and placement services, call (888) 263-4001 or (318) 868-4701.
