Pumpkins won’t be the only things shining at First United Methodist Church on Saturday, October 17. From 5 to 8 p.m., the church’s Altar Guild is sponsoring the annual Pumpkin Shine Carnival that brings out families for old fashioned fun. “This year, Pumpkin Shine will include an expanded carnival and haunted house that will be bigger and better than ever,” said Helen Hinton.
The carnival will have a variety of games with prizes for the children. According to Becky Marvin, two contests – one for pumpkins and one for costumes – will mean prizes in “funniest,” “scariest” and “most creative” categories. “Everyone is encouraged to bring pumpkins that are either carved, decorated or painted,” Marvin said. In addition, there will be a cake walk, moon walk, Bingo and other adult and children’s games. “There is no admission fee to participate, however there will be a small charge to go through the haunted house,” Hinton said.
