Minden’s First United Methodist Church Altar Guild is sponsoring an Artisans Fair in conjunction with the “Triumph Over Tragedy” Festival of Memories. Saturday, November 7 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., vendors from all over the Ark-La-Tex will offer a variety of arts and crafts at the church on Broadway.
According to Helen Hinton, vendors will also be offering pottery, jewelry, paintings and clothes. “We are very pleased to announce that we will be hosting a special presentation of Heifer International Project, Inc. highlighting their African Baskets,” Hinton said. “Our new church cookbook is expected to be available for sale the day of the fair, and there will be some great raffle items.” Hinton said lunch, prepared by B. Rose Catering, will be available for dine-in or carry-out. The menu consists of red beans and rice, meat pies, cole slaw and bread pudding. Tickets are $6 each and available at the church office, 903 Broadway. Local artist Cora Lou Robinson said the Artisan Fair is in honor of WPA – Work Projects Administration. “The Artisans Fair is our way of celebrating the legacy of the thousands of workers who labored at their craft for little money but great pride, which we have to inspire us today,” Robinson said.
