Melissa Ann Wilkie and David Braxton Fox, both of Minden, were united in marriage at 6:30 p.m., November 21, 2009, at the Scottish Rite Cathedral in Shreveport. The Rev Mike Wilkie, uncle of the bride, officiated the double-ring ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Wilkie of Minden. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Kittylu Fuller of Dubach, the late John Glenn Fuller and the late Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Wilkie.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Greg Fox of Minden. He is the grandson of Mrs. Joyce Fox of Shreveport, the late R.T. Fox, Mrs. Nora Sealey of Shreveport and the late Donald E. Sealey. Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore an elegant ball gown of dupioni silk by Pronovias. The gown featured an intricate pleated bodice and a chapel length train. The bride was honored to wear the chapel length veil of luxurious Italian lace belonging to her childhood friend, Mrs. Caroline Collier Roy. In keeping with family tradition, the bride placed in her shoe a six pence coin, which was also used in the weddings of her mother and grandmother. Completing her ensemble was a pearl necklace presented to the bride by the groom. She chose to carry an elegant dome-shaped bouquet of green tea roses, orange garden roses, orange ranunculus and green hypericum berries.. Serving as maid of honor was Julie Carpenter of Houston, Texas, college friend of the bride. Bridesmaids included Cara Beth Walker Buie, Jennifer Butcher, Cady Fox, Lauren Bekman Hamilton and Leah Wilkie. The bride’s attendants wore Jim Hjelm gowns of chocolate silk taffeta. Guestbook attendants included Caroline Collier Roy and Brooklyn Fleming Bolin. Jamie Wilson served as assistant to the bride. William Fox, brother of the groom, served as best man. Groomsmen included Seth Fox, O’Neil Fox, Drake Owens, Blake Rogers and John Wilkie. Serving as ushers were Trey and Travis Takacs, cousins of the bride, Justin Armstrong, Chad Parks and Allen Temple. Music for the ceremony was provided by the Festival String Quartet with Audrey Billiot performing Ava Maria. A reception honoring the couple followed immediately after the ceremony in the ballroom of the Scottish Rite Cathedral. Entertainment for the reception was provided by the Harmon Drew Super Group. At the end of the reception, the Super Group led the bride and groom to their awaiting vehicle in the traditional New Orleans Second Line. The ballroom décor featured large arrangements of fall foliage with mango calla lilies, purple lark spur, bells of Ireland, seeded eucalyptus and green hydrangeas accented with fall cattails and curly willow branches. Floral arrangements and designs were provided by Mrs. Lori Collier of Minden. The bride is a 2001 graduate of Glenbrook High School and a 2005 graduate of Tulane University, where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma. She received her Juris Doctorate from Louisiana State University Paul M. Hebert Law School in 2008. The bride is employed by the honorable judges of the 26th Judicial District Court as a law clerk. The groom in a 1999 graduate of Minden High School and a 2003 graduate of Northwestern State University. He is employed by Ana-Lab Corporation as Regional Manager. Views: 1386
