After his discharge, he eventually found his way back to Shreveport where he met and married his wife of 44 years, Melba Toothman of Monongah, W. Va. Grover was of Baptist faith and a member of Grace Tabernacle in Shreveport. He was actively involved for many years in A.A., 35 years with “40-8,” where he served as Chef de Gare twice, and the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed gardening and was quite the “farmer,” sharing his produce with many. A love he developed in his later years was working with wood, changing rough lumber into beautiful outdoor swings, baby cradles, etc. Each piece brought him pride in the accomplishment of a job well done. Grover was always young at heart and was looking forward to the time when he would have a a “train” room fixed so he could again display and play with his railroad network of model trains. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dewey and Esther Lowe; stepmother, Theo Miller Lowe; sisters Lucy Jones, Darthie Wiltheis and Melba Lowe; nephew, Ricky Miller; stepbrother, Billy G.
