Two arrested on drug charges, one for felony theft Minden officers were busy Thursday, arresting two on drug charges and one for felony theft. Dominick Gill. 19, of the 200 block of Camp Street, Minden, was arrested and charged with felony possession of a controlled dangerous substance (CDS) Schedule I (marijuana).
Gill’s arrest occurred when patrol officers recognized an individual wanted on an outstanding warrant. Believing the subject had entered a home on W.R. Reeder, the officers approached the home and asked the owner if they could search the premises. “The officers received permission to search, at which time they observed marijuana lying in plain view,” said Minden Police Capt. Julie Harmon. Gill, who was visiting the homeowner, was arrested in connection to the illegal narcotic. The person the officers were attempting to apprehend was not located at the residence. In an unrelated matter, a Sibley man was arrested Thursday for possession of marijuana. Demarvin Moore, 24, of the 200 block of Washington Street, was charged with possession of a CDS Schedule I (marijuana) second offense (felony) and an outstanding warrant issued by the Webster Parish Sheriff’s Office. On the above date, Minden narcotics officers Lt. Dan Weaver and Lt. Marvin Garrett observed Moore traveling on Lee Street. Knowing the man had an outstanding warrant issued by the Webster Parish Sheriff’s Office for theft, the officers initiated a traffic stop. During the traffic stop, the officers observed marijuana inside Moore’s vehicle, resulting in the possession charge. The warrant was served and Moore was transported to Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center without incident. In another case, a Minden man was arrested Thursday for stealing his co-worker’s wallet. Dederick Batton, 26, of the 1100 block of Cherry Street, was arrested and charged with felony theft. Several days prior to his arrest, Batton and a fellow co-worker went to the Dixie Mart convenience store on Homer Road. While making a transaction at the cash register, the co-worker placed his wallet on the counter. When he turned around, the wallet fell to the floor. “We reviewed the video from the store’s security camera, which showed the victim’s wallet fall to the floor,” said Harmon. “Batton then picked up the wallet and put it in his pocket.” The wallet contained $310, resulting in a felony charge.
