First Baptist Bossier will present a free gift to the community this weekend with Gloria! ... "A Christmas Experience"  on Sunday, Dec. 13 at 3 and 6:30 p.m.

This will be a multimedia Christmas spectacular, featuring the First Bossier

Celebration Choir, Vicki's Dancers and special guest, Mac Powell of Third Day.

"We want it to be a gift to our community. We're excited about Christmas and we want to celebrate Christmas," said Eddie Colvin, minister of music for First Bossier.

Powell, vocalist for Third Day, will also perform in both of Sunday services at 9:30 and 11 a.m. Third Day has won multiple awards and is one of the most popular groups in contemporary Christian music.

Having such a large event with so many moving parts means Colvin is not sure what to expect.

"There's a lot of details. We're sitting here seeing if there's anything we've forgotten," laughed Colvin. "We want it to be a ministry and we want people to have something special to go to so they can celebrate Christmas."

"It's been several years since we had a big production like this, we would like to see it become a yearly tradition and something that we could reach out to the community with," he added.

In addition to the event, the church will be incorporating a benefit called "Belts of Bossier" to help provide over 1,000 belts for students in the Bossier Parish School System that are in need.

"We had taken it to them this summer as a Love Loud project and we figured this would be a good time to do it.

We'll take up donations and offerings to provide these belts, that each counselor has reported they can use," informed Colvin.

Doors will open 45-minutes prior to show time at both events.Having such a large event with so many moving parts means Colvin is not sure what to expect.
