Three Lakeside Warrior football players were named to the recently announced District 1-2A All-District Football Team.

Senior Antaveous Stephens, and juniors Preston Gray and Jecorey Lathan were all honored by the coaches in District 1-2A.

“Having three players on this list, especially with the tough district we play in, is a good accomplishment,” Lakeside head football coach Terrence Quarles said. “We’re proud of all three of these guys.”

Stephens made the District 1-2A First Team as a running back.

“Antaveous is a senior and he did a lot of good running for us this year,” Quarles said. “He also proved to be a good leader for us. He was honored as a running back, but he also played linebacker for us on defense and made his mark there as well.”

Quarles pointed out that District 1-2A had a number of quality backs.

“He was picked as All-District running back, and we had some good backs in our district,” he said. “Tony Casey from Homer topped this list, but Antaveous was right there. He did a lot of good things for us and just made things happen. And the coaches in our district took notice of that.”

Gray made the District 1-2A First Team as a punter.

“I noticed Preston last year with his mechanism of catching the ball and swinging his leg high in the air,” Quarles said. “he boomed a lot of punts for us this year. He was a big weapon, as he kicked us out of a lot of holes this year. He helped change field position, when our offense sputtered.”

Lathan was named to the District 1-2A Second Team as an offensive lineman.

“Jecorey came in and didn’t really  want to play on the offensive line,” Quarles said. “But we motivated him enough to get him to step in there and give us some help. He really turned into a good player. He’s got good size and we’re real happy that he’ll be back next year. He really made some key blocks for us this year and became a leader on the offensive line.

Quarles was pleased with the players representing the school.

“We’re real proud of the guys and all the boys for their accomplishments this year.”
