Bossier School System students produced 5,239 motivational Christmas letters, cards, and drawings for U.S. troops stationed overseas while participating in a Letters to the Front contest sponsored by the Ark-La-Tex Chapter of the Military Officers Association of America. The contest was conducted in the elementary and middle schools by the Bossier Association of Educators and in the high schools by the Air Force Junior ROTC units. Writers of winning letters were recognized at the Dec.17 meeting of the Bossier School Board where they read their winning letters.
Individual winners were: Cori Christina Woodward, 1st grade, Sun City Elementary; Kayja Clutman, 2nd grade, Bossier Elementary; Karina Hernandez, 3rd grade, Kerr Elementary; Breydon Johns, 4th grade, Curtis Elementary; Vernell Calhoune, 5th grade, Bossier Elementary; Kristyn Miller, Elm Grove Middle Schoo;l Brett Denehan, Airline High School. All writers of winning letters were presented an engraved medallion and a cash award by Lt. Colonel John Collier, vice president of the Ark-La-Tex Chapter, and Rachel Gifford, president of the Bossier Association of Educators. Views: 319
