Perfect Super Bowl snack for Sunday’s game PDF Print E-mail
Written by Nancy McWhorter
Friday, 05 February 2010

Since moving to Louisiana, I have become an LSU and Saints fan EXCEPT if it is Texas U. or the Cowboys. This weekend is the BIG Super Bowl Football Game and you know I will be on the TV sideline rooting for the Saints along with my sister-in-law, Ava McWhorter and Mac.

Ava is a huge Saints fan.  When there is a Saints game, she wears her Saints sweatshirt for good luck. I hope she will be wearing it this Sunday.

Some of you out there will be having Super Bowl Parties and serving finger foods. I have an excellent snack recipe you might want to try. Stars for the STARS (The Saints). I have not made these since moving from Texas. I hope the won ton wrappers or egg roll wrappers are available at one of the local grocery stores. This will make four to five dozen Sausage Stars. My guess is there will be none leftover. A true KEEPER for your recipe files.

Sausage Stars

1 lb. cooked & crumbled sausage
1 1/2 cups grated sharp cheddar cheese
1 1/2 cups grated Monterey cheese
1 cup prepared Hidden Valley Ranch Original Ranch Salad Dressing Mix (prepared according to package directions)
1 (2.25 oz.) sliced ripe olives, drained
1 pkg. fresh or frozen won ton wrappers (or egg roll wrappers, cut in fourths)
Vegetable oil

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Pat sausage dry with paper towels and combine with cheeses, salad dressing and olives. Lightly grease a mini or regular muffin tin and press one wrapper into each cup. Brush with oil. Bake five minutes until golden. Remove from tins, place on baking sheet. Fill with sausage mixture. Bake five minutes until bubbly.

GEAUX SAINTS!!!
