A private family service for Mrs. Linda Harris, 54, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 6, 2010 in the Chapel at Benevolent Funeral Home in Minden. Burial will follow in Mt. Pisgah Cemetery in Homer. The birth of a child always takes up the most room in your heart. A small bundle brought the greatest joy to the late L.C. Harris and Winnie Bell Patterson Harris, their first born, Linda Harris, on Feb. 17, 1955 in Minden. Linda received her grade school education in Thomas & Rhone School and graduated from Shongaloo High School in 1973. Linda chose to continue her education at Grambling State University in Grambling and obtained a B.S. Degree in Business Administration. Following graduation she became employed at the Evergreen Community School in management. After years of employment at Evergreen, Linda decided to relocate to Dallas, Texas and was employed at Dallas Metro Care and later became employed with Texas Department of Criminal Justice in the parole division until her death. Linda lived life as if life itself was created just for her. She loved her family and demonstrated it in her own way and through various acts of kindness. Her greatest joys were her nephews and nieces. In Linda’s eyes, they could do no wrong that couldn’t be corrected. She displayed a gentle but corrective hand with t hem and loved to fondly tease and caress them, showering them with hugs and kisses. Her strength, courage and prosperity are to be admired by most. Linda touched the lives of many by her humorous comments and sayings. She united with Pilgrim Rest United Methodist Church in Minden at an early age, singing in the choir and serving on the Usher Board. Linda attended Pilgrim Rest until her move to Dallas, where she attended Mount Hebron Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Leonard O. Leach. On Jan. 30, 2010 at 5:15 p.m., at Medical City Dallas Hospital, Dallas, God called and Linda answered. To cherish her undying love and memories, she leaves her mother, Winnie Bell Patterson Harris (Red); one grandmother, Queen Elizabeth Noble; one aunt, Dorothy Patterson (Lenzie) of Battle Creek, Mich.; two sisters, Loretta Harris Giles (Willie) of Shreveport and Barbara Harris Grigsby (Daryln) of Charleston, S.C.; one brother, Quinton Harris (Kim) of Minden; one niece, Keywana Grigsby Millbrook (Kenneth) of Charleston, S.C.; one nephew, Jeremy Harris Giles of Shreveport; three grand nieces, Kayla, Arleana and Lynn Millbrook of Charleston, S.C.; and a devoted and caring number one friend, Monique Pippins of Dallas. Other special people in her life were Martha Grigsby, Ella Neal, special cousin and friend Tilmon Harris of Atlanta, and a host of other cousins, relatives and friends. Linda was preceded in death by her father, L.C. (Lil Boy) Harris, on Jan. 20, 2010; her grandparents, Cleve and Fannie Harris; a special aunt, Sallie Harris Mims; and one nephew, Marcus Wyatt Giles. For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord; whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord’s. – Romans 14:8.
