Kenneth Marvin Rascoe passed away quietly in the company of his wife, children, and brother on the morning of Feb. 4, 2010. He was 62 years old. Ken was born in Coushatta, on Dec. 12, 1947. He grew up in Evelyn and deeply cherished his childhood on Bayou Pierre. He attended Coushatta High School, where he played running back on the football team. He graduated from Louisiana Tech University with a bachelor’s degree in Forestry. Following a summer’s work in California, he returned to Louisiana to attend graduate school at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, where he met his wife, Mary. Ken was the owner and operator of Rascoe’s Grocery Store in Dixie Inn, where he served the community for 38 years. Funeral services for Kenneth Rascoe will be held today, Feb. 8, 2010, at 2 p.m. at Antioch Baptist Church in Dixie Inn. Officiating will be the Rev. Danny Warbington and the Rev. Malcolm Self. Interment will follow at Gardens of Memory in Minden. Family received friends Saturday, Feb. 6, 2010, from 5 until 9 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden. Ken’s parents, M.H. and Lessie Mae Rascoe and his sister, Carolyn Sue Rascoe proceeded him in death. He is survived by his wife, Mary Bucaro Rascoe of Minden; son, Philip Andrew Rascoe and wife Alisa Acosta Rascoe of Belton, Texas; daughters, Andrea Leslie Rascoe of Minden and Anna Catherine Rascoe of Minden; brothers, Melvin Brent Rascoe of Evelyn and Charles Ray Rascoe of Shreveport; and one grandson, Devon Maurice Rascoe of Minden. Pallbearers will be Bo (Walter) Nelson, Roy Flournoy, Delvin McKinnon, Ricky Hammett, Kenny Smith and Wilbert Brooks. Honorary Pallbearers will be Rod Hortman, Latson Souter, Al Baker, Jimmy Johnson, Raymond Cooper and Howard Spillers.
