Three Bossier Parish high school basketball teams will be playing at home when the boys’ state playoffs get under way Friday night. District 1-5A champion Airline will play Natchitoches-Central, District 2-4A champion Bossier High will play Franklinton and District 1-A champion Plain Dealing will play Jackson.
Two other Bossier Parish teams are heading South Friday as Benton travels to Northside in Lafayette and Haughton plays Glen Oaks in Baton Rouge. Bossier High, 34-1 with 31 consecutive wins, is No. 2 in Class 4A in both the Louisiana High School Athletic Assn. power ratings and Louisiana Sports Writers’ Assn. poll going into its game with Franklinton, which is 17-12 and 4-4 in District 9-4A. The Bossier High-Franklinton winner will play the winner of a game between Neville and Alexandria Senior High in a regional playoff game next week. If Bossier High and Neville win, the game will be played at Bossier High. But if Bossier High and ASH win, the regional game will be played in Alexandria. Airline carries a 23-12 record into Friday’s game with Natchitoches-Central, which is 23-11 for the season but finished regular-season play with five consecutive District 2-5A losses. Airline is seeded No. 15 and Natchitoches-Central No. 18 in final LHSAA power ratings. The Airline-Natchitoches Central winner plays the winner of a game between No. 2 Scotlandville and No. 11 Denham Springs. If Airline wins, the Vikings will travel regardless of who wins the other game. Plain Dealing carries a 23-5 record into Friday’s game, winning 14 of its last 15 games. Views: 309
