An Elm Grove man has been arrested for shooting a dog.
Duane R. Flores, 33, of the 100 block of Country Forest Lane, has been charged with simple cruelty to animals and illegal use of weapons following the shooting of his neighbor’s dog at about 4:30 p.m. Tuesday. Bossier Sheriff’s deputies say Flores shot the canine with a .22 rifle because he did not want it mating with his pit bull.
Witnesses say they heard two distinct shots and after the second shot, the dog, a one-year-old mixed breed named Buck, yelped. When Bossier Sheriff’s deputies arrived, the dog was throwing up blood and appeared to have a gunshot wound to his side. Buck was taken to an animal emergency center, but damage was so severe, he was euthanized.
