BOSSIER CITY — U. S. Soldiers Foundation, Super 1 Foods and World Physique Magazine are joining forces to collect and send care packages to servicemen and women in Iraq and Afghanistan.

On Saturday, Aug. 28, from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m., Super 1 Foods at 1870 Airline Dr will be taking names and addresses of relatives or friends stationed in Iraq and Afghanistan, and collecting care package items or monetary donations to ship packages overseas to our troops.

Suggested items for the packages include snack foods (crackers, cookies, cereal bars, nutrigrain bars, etc), lotions, non perishables, beef jerky, drink mixes, flip flops, hard candy, sheets, pillowcases, blistex, toothbrushes, dental floss, toothpaste, shampoo, deodorant, playing cards, shower gel, gum, canned tuna and chicken.

These sounds like small items to most people, but to the troops, it is a big deal.  Magazines, crossword puzzles, etc. are also greatly appreciated.  Remember easy open lids, unscented items, no pork products, and no chocolate — it melts.  Enclose any liquid, cream or lotion in zip lock bag.

Mark Mcgrew, Bossier City Super I Foods Store Director said, "This is something our community needs to do to show our support for the troops who are giving their all for us".  We would like to thank the U S Soldier's Foundation  for helping us with  this worthwhile  project."

Greg Bubblis, CEO of U S Soldiers Foundation agreed and said, " We are excited to partner with Super 1 Foods in  making life a little easier for our service men and women in the Middle East. I know first hand what these care packages can do for a soldier's morale and spirit."
