A Shreveport couple accused of second-degree murder were expected to make their first court appearance this morning at the Bossier Parish Courthouse.

Deeddrick Jackson, 30 of Shreveport, and his then girlfriend Melissa Williams, 31 of Shreveport, will make their first court appearance since Williams’ arrest June 12 and Jackson’s arrest June 21. According to reports by the Bossier City Police Department, officers responded to a call at the Mission Village Apartments after a neighbor discovered the body of Kelley Edward White, 53 of Bossier City, lying motionless in White’s apartment bedroom.

Investigating officers deduced the victim had been robbed and knew his killers. After spending much of the day interviewing neighbors and collecting evidence, BCPD officers arrested Williams for her connection with the crime.

After a week-long manhunt detectives with the Shreveport Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit arrested Jackson at a house on the 2000 block of Brent Street, in Shreveport after receiving a tip on Jackson’s possible whereabouts.

Both Jackson and Williams were sent to the Bossier Maximum Security Facility without bond to await trial. This morning Jackson and Williams will stand before Bossier Parish Judge Ford E. Stinson Jr. for the preliminary trial.

Jackson and Williams will face charges of second-degree murder for allegedly committing a murder while in the commission of a crime. In Louisiana, second-degree murder carries a penalty of life in a hard labor facility without the possibility of parole.
