Show & Shine Car and Bike Show gearing up PDF Print E-mail

Out with the new and in with the old could be the slogan for The Vintage Car Club of Minden’s annual “Show & Shine” Car and Bike Show.

Scheduled for Saturday, September 11, the event, to be held in downtown Minden, boasts the largest car show trophy presentation in the area.

Pre registration for entries to the show are encouraged and due by August 28.  “Early Birds” will be entered into a drawing for a prize.

“There is no fee for entering your vehicle into competition, nor will there be a fee to come out and enjoy the cars, bikes, and entertainment on September 11,” said Larry Gipson, club president. “The membership of the Vintage Car Club is composed of car enthusiasts who will put on the show for the citizens of Minden to enjoy.”

First, second and third place trophies will be awarded in more than 26 categories; antique cars, sport and muscle cars, imports, street rods, jeeps, trucks, rat rod and many other car and bike classes.

The Vintage Car Club has been involved in and supports many community activities including Dixie Youth Baseball, UCAP, American Cancer Society, Minden Council on Aging, Saint Jude, victims of Haiti Relief Fund, Victims of local tragedy and Gift Baskets during Christmas.

Minden Main Street will again co-sponsor the show and sponsor a “Treasure Hunt” the day of the event.

“We had a wonderful turnout last year for the treasure hunt, it is for young and old alike,” said Bill Cook, promotion chair for Minden Main Street. “Mark September 11 on your calendar for great family fun.”

For more information on the show, call Gipson at 377-0907 or Pattie Odom in the Main Street office in Minden City Hall, 377-2144.
