WICHITA, Kansas — Shreveport-Bossier Captains played key roles in the South team’s 12-3 victory over the North in the American Association All-Star game here Tuesday night. Chris Garcia started a three-for-five night with a first-inning home run and became the first Captain ever selected Most Valuable Player of an All-Star game, driving in four runs.
Captains Osvaldo Rodriguez, Ryan DiPietro and Richard Salazar pitched the first four innings and did not allow a run, as Rodriguez was the only pitcher on either team who went two innings. DiPietro, a late injury replacement selection, was credited with the pitching victory. Rodriguez allowed three hits and one walk in two innings, and struck out one batter. DiPietro and Salazar each retired the North Batters 1-2-3 in one inning. The Captains will open a four-game series at Fort Worth tonight. Views: 256
