Bro. Walter Harrison, 74, of Minden died at Willis Knighton Health Center in Shreveport July 21, 2010, after a brief illness.

He was born Oct. 28, 1935 in Claiborne Parish to the late Will land Rosie Harrison. He joined the Mayflower Baptist Church at an early age.

Walter is survived by a sister, Francis E. Shine; stepsister, Velmer Allen; brother, George Harrison; and stepbrother, LeVell Island, all of Minden. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, relatives; and many friends.

Funeral services for Walter Harrison will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 31, 2010, at Mayflower Baptist Church, 1230 Harris Rd., Minden, with the Rev. Clarence Bryant officiating. Burial will follow at Mayflower Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Miller-Pioneer Funeral Home. The body will lie in state from 1 until 6 p.m. for public viewing at Miller-Pioneer Chapel.
