Team to begin conditioning drills on Monday; pads to come on Aug. 16th SIBLEY — Despite a couple of down seasons, Lakeside head football coach Terrence Quarles has a message for Warrior fans, “Lakeside football is very much alive!” Quarles and his Warriors will head back onto the practice field Monday at 4 p.m. to begin five days of heat acclimation and conditioning drills.
“We’ll start with some running trying to get in shape,” Quarles said. “It will be mostly conditioning drills and that will head into the first official week which will start on the following Monday.” Quarles said he was proud of the way his team worked during the summer. “We had some real good workouts this summer,” he said. “We changed our program some from the previous year. We had a pretty good turnout and we had a lot of hard work. The morale of the kids was great.” Lakeside’s numbers are down a bit from last year, but Quarles thinks the team will pick up some kids after schools starts. “We’re pretty close to where we were last year,” he said. “We might be down five or six kids, but during the summer we had a few kids playing baseball and some junior high kids out on vacations, but on a regular basis we’ve been okay. We’re looking to pick up a few more once school starts, but we’re ready to tee it up and kick it off.” Views: 408
