Two-point conversion decided Wings-Vigilantes game The Bossier-Shreveport Battle Wings and Dallas Vigilantes left themselves a tough act to follow in their first Arena Football League matchup this season. The Battle Wings won, 70-69, on a two-point conversion pass after pulling within one point on a last-second touchdown pass.
They’ll play again at the CenturyTel Center Saturday night at 7:05 in the final game of the 201-0 AFL season for both teams. The Vigilantes and Utah Blaze share the worst records in the league as both are 2-13 coming in to this week’s games. The Blaze is playing at the Alabama Vipers (6-9). The Battle Wings are 3-12 and have won only one game (the victory over Dallas) since the first two weeks of the season. The Battle Wings opened their first AFL season with victories over the Alabama Vipers (54-48) and Orlando Predators (73-67) at the CenturyTel Center. Since then, they’ve had a series of injuries — especially at the quarterback position — and have two six-game losing streaks sandwiched around the squeaker past the Vigilantes. A 48-20 loss to Jacksonville last week snapped a streak of four straight games in which the Battle Wings allowed 70 or more points. They have lost their last five games by margins ranging from 26 to 39 points. The Battle Wings have allowed 968 points in 15 games, a franchise high for their previous nine seasons in the af2. The only team that has allowed more points this season is Utah (972). Views: 316
