A Bossier City man was arrested recently for allegedly striking his wife in front of his two young daughters. Joseph Lairson of the 6000 block of Highway 80 was arrested and charged with aggravated battery and possession of illegal drugs after he struck his spouse with a freon canister, according to arrest reports.
The victim had cuts on her hands from glass and complained of injuries to her arms and legs. She was transported to LSU Health Sciences Center for treatment.
During the investigation, authorities found marijuana and drug paraphernalia was discovered in plain view. Pornographic material was all over the house in plain view of the children. Lairson was charged with aggravated battery, possession of schedule II controlled dangerous substance, contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile, use of a controlled dangerous substance in front of a minor, possession of drug paraphernalia, and simple possession of marijuana.
Deanna Lairson, co-defendant, was given the same charges.
Drug arrests Trent Russell of Carthage, Texas, was arrested for DWI and exceeding the speed limit when a Haughton Police Department officer saw him pass the Pilot Truck Stop in Haughton doing 55 mph in a 45 mph zone. The officer conducted a traffic stop and noticed a very strong odor of alcoholic impurities coming from his breath. Russell was also slurring his words.
Russell submitted to a breath test, which showed his alcohol level at .094.
In an unrelated incident, Lisa Rives of the 5000 block of Crystal Drive in Shreveport, was arrested after authorities stopped the driver of the car Rives was riding in for speeding.
During a search of the vehicle, authorities found numerous hypodermic needles in a makeup case in the glove box.
Rives told authorities she is not a diabetic, but her sister is. A search of her criminal history reflected prior drug arrests. She was handcuffed and charted with possession of drug paraphernalia.
Bossier Sheriff’s deputies arrested an 18-year-old from Bossier City in an unrelated stop after he was observed sitting in the intersection of Airline Drive and Linton Road. Upon contact with the driver the deputy detected an alcohol odor, and William Morgan of the 5000 block of East Texas Street admitted to drinking wine earlier in the night.
He was arrested and transported to the Bossier Maximum Security Jail.
Robert Weyant, 42 of Carthage, Texas, was arrested for DWI and resisting an officer after he was stopped for speeding on Interstate 20, clocked at 90 mph in a 70 mph zone.
The vehicle ran off the road four times as the officer approached from the rear. Once stopped the Weyant was told to take his hands out of his pockets but refused. As the officer reached to grab the suspect, Weyant pulled away and pulled out a finger nail file from his pocket. He was restrained and placed under arrest.
