Multi-million dollar, multi-use development coming to Bossier City

Local developer John Good announced plans Wednesday for a new multi-million dollar development on the same scale as the Louisiana Boardwalk.

This project, however, will take on an Italian flare and feature a mixture of residential, entertainment, dining and office space all combined into one location.

Villaggio, which is Italian for “village” will be situated off Highway 80 near Bossier Parish Community College, and Good said the focus of the development is families.

“This will be designed and built with families in mind,” he said.

Villaggio will consist of single and multi-family housing, approximately 55,000 square feet of retail space, Lake Villaggio, the Promenade, all which can be accessed on foot, or by driving with all internal parking.

The entire project will be settled on 64 acres where Interstate 20 intersects Highway 80 near BPCC. Its signature feature will be a 45-foot clocktower and a five-acre lake offering paths for recreation and running as well as connecting the entire project.

A variety of restaurants, small sidewalk cafes and cart vendors will line the sidewalks and add to the sense of “village” Good is hoping to achieve.

Good described his latest venture as yet another “outside the box” development. He said Bossier City is primed for big things, and he hopes this proposed new development will become just one more destination to bring people to Bossier City, both to visit and to live.

Good was the driving force behind the Stonebridge development as well as the Louisiana Boardwalk, and said his love for Bossier City and the ever present growth make it the perfect place for his latest project.

The new mixed-use development will be the first of its kind in Bossier, and Good said the unique blend of commercial and residential uses will fit the needs of people at all different stages in their lives, whether it’s the young couple with children, the young professional, or the couple ready for retirement.

Good said he traveled the country looking at different developments to come up with the perfect blend for Bossier City.

Good said he hopes to have the new zoning approved by the Bossier City Council in March, and hold the ground breaking sometime in the next few months.

If all goes as planned, Good said he hopes to have the first businesses and the first residents moving in by the summer of 2008.

“Today starts it all,” Good said.
In its entirety, the project is estimated to cost between $80 million and $90 million.

At a glance
Villaggio is an Italian themed urban lifestyle community, combining residential, commercial and office space in one location, along with dining and entertainment.
The $80 million project is scheduled to open with the first tenants and residents in the summer of 2008.
