 Funeral Services for Mrs. Katie Forrest August, 89, will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, May 24, 2007, at the Fourteenth District Building with the Rev. James Kinsey officiating. Burial will follow at Sheppard Street Cemetery, under the direction of Kennon’s Mortuary of Minden.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 23, in the chapel of Kennon’s Mortuary, Inc.
Mrs. August was born on April 30, 1918, in Minden, to the late Rev. Moses Forrest Sr. and Mrs. Sallie Washington Forrest, and died on May 15, at Meadowview Nursing Home, Minden.
She united in holy matrimony to Mr. Gilbert August.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brothers, Artis Forrest, Earnest Forrest, Moses Forrest Jr. and Clarence Turner; sisters, Dora Forrest Thompson, Bertice Forrest, Lucy Lott, and Vassie Turner.
She is survived by two daughters, Delorious Routt of Bakersville, Calif., and Glorious Calvin of Los Angeles, Calif.; two grandchildren, Denise M. Routt of Minden and Nola Elaine Pratt of Nashville, Tenn.; three great-grandchildren, LaVonte Routt-Price and wife LaTonya, LaQuisha Routt-Price and Loletta Gammage; one brother, Rudolph H. Forrest of Los Angeles; a special niece, Marguerite Hayes Williams of Minden; and a host of other relatives and friends.
