All lights on in Minden following windy Tuesday While all the lights appear to be on in Minden following a wild and windy Tuesday, some of our neighboring parishes are not so fortunate. Thousands of Louisiana families were without electricity late Tuesday and early this morning after a storm front, accompanied by high winds, knocked over utility poles and downed trees.
Cleco reported 10,000 of its customers statewide in the dark Tuesday night, while AEP-SWEPCO reported more than 13,000 power outages in Caddo Parish and more than 4,000 in Bossier Parish. ‘‘It’s all wind-related,’’ said Cleco spokeswoman Robbyn Cooper. In Minden, the wind knocked down trees and limbs causing power outages for a brief time Tuesday afternoon. But City Hall reported this morning that all power had been restored. “Everything was restored at 7:30 last night,” said Gary Mooreland, the city’s electrical transmission and distribution manager. “We haven’t had a wind-related call since.” All totaled, Mooreland said only about 150 customers endured outages.
