Man arrested for growing marijuana PDF Print E-mail

A Minden man was arrested Tuesday after being found in possession of a four and one-half foot marijuana plant.
Jerry Teal, 32, of the 1500 block of Shreveport Road, was arrested at 1:05 p.m. Tuesday and charged with cultivation of a controlled dangerous substance schedule I (marijuana). A probation and parole hold was also placed.

According to the Office of Probation  and Parole, the office received information from a confidential informant regarding illegal activity at Teal’s address.

Probation and Parole contacted the Minden Police Department and requested assistance with a search of Teal’s residence.

Minden Detectives Marvin Garrett and Dan Weaver accompanied Agents Amy Russell, Blair Lebel and David Phillips to Teal’s home, located in a trailer park on Shreveport Road. Upon arriving at the location, the officers joined together in a search of the residence.

“After we made contact with Jerry Teal at the residence, we conducted a search of the premises, at which time we located an approximate four and one-half foot tall marijuana plant,” said Weaver. “The plant has a street value of $1,200.”

Teal was placed under arrest on the above charges and transported to Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center.

According to Russell, Teal was on probation on former charges of middle grade theft and simple burglary.

“People who are on probation or parole have certain guidelines and refraining from criminal conduct is one of them,” said Russell. “We would also like to thank the Minden Police Department for their assistance in this matter.”
